Volkswagen has unveiled its latest addition to its electric car range: the ID.4 GTX. This new model is set to revolutionize the electric car market, offering an unparalleled combination of performance, sustainability, and technology.
The GTX label represents a new level of sportiness from Volkswagen, continuing the tradition of the successful GTI, GTD, and GTE models. The Volkswagen ID.4 GTX is the new top-of-the-range model in the purely electric ID.4 model series, boasting a maximum output of 220 kW (299 PS) thanks to its two electric motors – one each on the front and rear axles – which work together as an electric dual-motor all-wheel drive. This technology offers high driving stability and large power reserves, resulting in more driving pleasure.
The Volkswagen ID.4 GTX marks a strategic milestone in the Volkswagen Group's electric mobility campaign, as it will be launched into the world's largest market segment - the compact SUV class. The Group plans to become the global leader in electric mobility by 2025 at the latest, with investments of around 46 billion euros in electric mobility and the hybridization of its fleet.
The Volkswagen ID.4 GTX is not just a high-performance vehicle but also a sustainable one. Volkswagen has established an entire ecosystem of sustainable electric mobility around these new models, ensuring that customers receive a car produced in a carbon-neutral process and handed over with a carbon-neutral balance sheet.
Moreover, if charged using sustainably produced electricity - such as Volkswagen Naturstrom - it will also remain carbon-neutral on the road.
The ID.4 GTX is equipped with a completely new drive system featuring an electric drive motor on both the front and rear axles. These motors work together when needed, creating a fully variable all-wheel drive system that does not require clutches or a propshaft between the axles, making it extremely fast and highly efficient.
The highlight of the new Volkswagen ID.4 GTX is the Vehicle Dynamics Manager, developed by Volkswagen to coordinate and monitor the complex interactions between the various individual systems. The electronic Vehicle Dynamics Manager monitors the ID.4 GTX's every move, whether the car is accelerating, braking, or cornering. This close integration ensures that driving dynamics, traction, and stability are all at a top level.
