As the world transitions towards cleaner energy sources, Volkswagen is leading the way with its latest electric vehicle, the ID.7. This fully electric sedan is set to hit the market as a direct competitor to the popular VW Passat model. The German car manufacturer recently revealed some exciting details about this new series, which is set to make its world premiere in just a few weeks.
The Volkswagen ID.7 boasts an impressive 4.96-meter length, with a wheelbase of 2.96 meters that allows for the same spacious interior conditions found in the luxury class. The trunk under the tailgate has a generous capacity of 532 liters, making it perfect for road trips and daily commutes alike. The model is powered by a newly developed electric motor that generates 210 kW (286 hp) and up to 545 Newton meters of torque. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds and up to 180 km/h, with an expected power consumption of around 13 kWh.
One of the most exciting features of the Volkswagen ID.7 is the newly developed drive, which combines a trio of electric motors, a two-stage single-speed gearbox, and a pulse-controlled inverter to optimize efficiency. The pulse-controlled inverter ensures thermal stability, controls the flow of energy, and optimizes consumption, allowing the car to achieve a drag coefficient of around 0.23. According to VW, the electric sedan can travel between 615 and 700 kilometers on a single charge, making it perfect for long-distance travel.
