Jeep has unveiled new autonomous off-road technology that could revolutionize how people explore the wilderness. The new system, which is still in development, uses a combination of cameras, sensors, and artificial intelligence to navigate difficult terrain without human input.
In a demonstration at Moab, Utah, Jeep engineers showed off the new system's capabilities by driving a Wrangler 4xe up and down a steep hill and through a rocky riverbed. The vehicle was able to complete the course without any problems, even when the driver took their hands off the wheel.
The new autonomous off-road technology is still in its early stages, but Jeep says it has the potential to make off-roading more accessible to a wider range of people. The system could also be used to help rescue crews navigate dangerous terrain in search of lost hikers or campers.
