Peugeot has unveiled its new e-3008, a fully electric fastback SUV that promises to deliver a range of up to 435 miles on a single charge. The e-3008 is the first model to use the new eVMP platform from Stellantis, which is designed specifically for electric vehicles and offers improved performance, efficiency, and technology.
The Peugeot e-3008 is a radical departure from the previous generation of the 3008, which was a conventional SUV with a choice of gasoline, diesel, or plug-in hybrid powertrains. The new model features a sleek and aerodynamic design, with a sloping roofline, narrow headlights, and a curved grille. The rear end has a distinctive coupé-like shape, with a spoiler and an upturned lip. The e-3008 also sports the new Peugeot logo, which is inspired by the brand’s heritage and symbolizes its transition to electrification.
The e-3008 will be available in three electric variants, each with different battery sizes, power outputs, and driving ranges. The entry-level model will have a 73 kWh battery, a single motor with 210 hp, front-wheel drive, and a range of up to 326 miles. The long-range model will have a 98 kWh battery, a single motor with 230 hp, front-wheel drive, and a range of up to 435 miles. The dual-motor model will have a 98 kWh battery, two motors with 320 hp combined, all-wheel drive, and a range of up to 326 miles. All models will have a top speed of 112 mph and will support fast charging up to 160 kW, allowing them to recharge from 20% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
The interior of the Peugeot e-3008 is dominated by a large 21-inch panoramic i-Cockpit screen that stretches across the dashboard and serves as both an infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. The screen can be customized with different widgets and themes and can display various information such as navigation, media, driving modes, battery status, and driver assistance features. The screen also integrates the climate control functions, which can be accessed via touch-sensitive buttons or voice commands. Below the main screen, there is another touch-sensitive screen that can be configured with shortcuts for frequently used settings.
The e-3008 offers a spacious and comfortable cabin, with plenty of headroom and legroom for both front and rear passengers. The trunk capacity is 520 liters (18.4 cubic feet), which can be expanded to 1,530 liters (54 cubic feet) by folding the rear seats. The e-3008 also has several storage compartments throughout the cabin, including under the center console and in the doors.
The Peugeot e-3008 is equipped with a range of advanced driver assistance systems that enhance safety and convenience. Some of these include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, park assist, 360-degree camera, head-up display, night vision, and emergency braking. The e-3008 also features an intelligent adaptive lighting system that automatically adjusts the beam pattern and intensity according to the driving conditions and the presence of other vehicles.
The Peugeot e-3008 is expected to go on sale in Europe in early 2024, followed by other markets such as China and Australia later in the year. The pricing has not been announced yet, but it is estimated that the entry-level model will cost around $47,000 (€40,000), while the long-range and dual-motor models will cost around $59,000 (€50,000) and $71,000 (€60,000), respectively.
The e-3008 is Peugeot’s most ambitious electric vehicle yet, as it aims to compete with other popular electric SUVs such as the Volkswagen ID.4, the Skoda Enyaq iV, and the Nissan Ariya. With its striking design, impressive range, and advanced technology, the e-3008 could be a game-changer for Peugeot and the general electric vehicle market.
